Pufpaff's Fiber Processing

Suzanne is available throughout the year for workshops in her fully equipped felting and knitting studio and custom carding mill. She teaches and designs patterns in a wide range of styles. Suzanne will also custom design a garment from your favorite fiber animal taking the fiber from straight off the animal through the processing, dying, spinning and knitting process all the way to a custom fit garment. Suzanne also teaches and demonstrates at festivals and retreats. She is seen here showing her fiber flock what she does with their fleece.

A little about Suzanne

Suzanne began her fiber journey learning to knit in 4-H as a child. She was designing her own knitting patterns by the time she was 12 and has never stopped exploring the boundaries of what is possible.

Suzanne has also loved and cared for various animals since childhood and has been fascinated with natural fibers most of her adult life. When she discovered fiber-bearing animals, it was a match made in heaven..

Since 1982, she has raised Angora rabbits, Angora goats, colored sheep, Shetland sheep, Scottish Highland cattle and Llamas. Along with the animals came experiments with spinning, weaving, knitting, locker hooking, sewing and felting.

Her feltmaking journey began by making and marketing a simple felt hat from a Angora rabbit/wool blend created from her animals. Her line of felted items evolved with the maturing of experience and skills and changing interests. She began teaching and demonstrating feltmaking in 1990 and has taught and promoted felting at various events, guilds, and historic events throughout the United States. In 2002, she added a custom carding mill to her list of endeavors and has been servicing small producers and fiber artist with great success for the last ten years.

In 2005, Suzanne added knitting instruction and custom knitting to the services she provides.

With the continuing evolution of her skills and interest, Suzanne has now come full circle and is concentrating more on her first love, knitting. With access to so much wonderful roving in her mill, Suzanne is now spending much more time with her spinning wheel and knitting needles. She is available to custom knit and design for customers to create the perfect handspun, handknit items from fiber produced by that special fiber friend. Everything from that special sheep to the family pet can be created into beautiful custom designs as long as the fiber is a reasonable length.

She also has created a full line of felting and knitting atterns which can be viewed here or a various locations around the state. Make sure to visit the knitting section of her fibermill web site to see all the new patterns.
